The sound of firefighting helicopters landing and taking off through the day Tuesday and into last evening. They’re on regular rotations of dropping water and retardant on the flames. The Wapiti Fire continues to threaten Stanley and the Stanley Lake area this morning. So far, 79,745 acres have burned. Officials have now moved the lower Stanley area into a “go” evacuation.
