From mid-summer to early fall, check out the lower branches and twigs of American beech trees and you might find some Beech Blight Aphids (Grylloprociphilus imbricator) or Boogie-woogie Aphids. Using their syringe-like mouth, the aphids pierce the bark and sucks sap from the tree.
