It fills in all those microscopic imperfections on the heatsink and CPU/GPU that can trap air in them and cause a loss in the heatsink’s performance.

Jul 9, 2022 · Not long ago I read a review about thermal paste, very extensive one with all included, i learned my ancient MX 2 is only 1.5° C worse than the best thermal paste, so I didn’t bother ordering something else. Thermal paste is overrated, the only thing that makes big difference is liquid metal instead of regular paste. Keep this in mind.

Nov 25, 2024 · None of the above. First, I don't know what your 2 images are supposed to be showing us. Second, properly applied TIM (thermal interface material) will easily last 10, 15 years or longer AS LONG AS the cured bond between the heatsink and processor has not been broken.

Nov 5, 2014 · I've tried MX4, Coolab liquid pro and IC Diamond. They all do the job with two or three deg Celsius difference. Even the stock paste of Corsair H105i was 2-3 deg off liquid pro. The only thing that was DEFINATELY worth, was replacing GPU thermal paste with IC diamond (I've done that on a few gpus). shaved at least 5c each time.

Dec 25, 2023 · The guy who decided to put more paste on top of existing one without removing the previous one is an absolute buffoon though and should not be in the PC building business. Just run a thermal test and if the CPU has normal-ish temps you are in no trouble. You can’t kill a modern CPU with temps anyway, they would just throttle.

After making some search on google I found this article that suggests Gelid Solutions GC-Extreme to be the best thermal paste although Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra seems to perform better if properly applied.
