To work as an esthetician in Alaska, you must first become licensed by the Alaska Board of Barbers and Hairdressers. In order to do so, you will be required to complete the following steps:

30-day courtesy licenses are available for body piercing, permanent cosmetic coloring, and tattooing. (12 AAC 09.004) Courtesy licenses require a sponsor who holds an active Alaska license in the same aspect as the courtesy licensee applicant.

To become a licensed esthetician in Alaska, you must complete a course of education/training that consists of at least 350 hours. You may choose to complete this education/training through an approved school of esthetics or cosmetology, or through an approved apprenticeship.
