Jul 1, 2012 · That will work. I've had a half dozen Cads over the past 15 years with the air shock leveling setup and the ride is fine. I have had air shocks on both my 48 and the 51 Merc and as long as you don't put a hundred pounds of air pressure in them they ride fine. For what you want they should work good.

Like in the old days with the jacked up rears for tire clearance, I can't tell you how many Chevelles, etc that I saw with ripped out shock mounts, upper and lower. If you have a family car that you want to load camping gear in or tow a boat once in a while, air shocks are a pretty good thing.

Jul 18, 2011 · Not what air shocks are designed for, nor the right way to lift a front end. Without knowing the model of 60's Ford, are you sure you can even get air shocks on the front. Many Fords of that era have the shock inside the coil so I don't think you fill be able to fit them.

May 30, 2012 · Air shocks are just shocks, they were not designed to take all the static weight of a car; springs or coils were designed specifically for that. It was a common thing though to use air shocks on the rear to jack it up. If going down that road I would use purpose built air springs designed for that and also use separate shocks.
