According to a (TOO exhaustive) book on Cadillacs I have, the shortened-trunk Cadillac sedans were referred to follows: 1961 Town Sedan, model 6399 (DeVille)-3756 made 1962 Town Sedan, model 6289 (series 62) and 1962 Park Avenue, model 6389 (DeVille), total 2600 made, no breakdown by which series. 1963 Park Avenue, model 6389, 1575 produced.

How about driving impressions of a 1969 Cadillac convertible? I just bought one and drove it up from Florida to north Georgia.

That car is just somebody's nostalgic ideal of what a 1962 Cadillac looked like. It may be a 1960s Cadillac but its whole vibe seems like a 1980s movie idea of what a 1950s car was all about. It just comes across as cartoonish and what some rich obnoxious unknowledgeable idiot would drive. Wide whitewalls like that were out of style by 1962.

At $14,000 we're fast approaching, if not already in, the price range for a decent 1962-64 Cadillac convertible (assuming a purchase through a private seller). I guess a nice, 1970's Pontiac (or similar) convertible for around $5K is not possible.

Believe it or not, Cadillac actually offered the Calais up through 1976! It held on right through the last year of the pre-downsized mastodons! Looking at my old car book, it looks like Cadillac broke out the DeVilles from the Series 62 starting in 1959. The '58, the DeVilles were just high-spec versions of the Series 62 hardtop coupe and sedan.

In my opinion, cool dad SUV's would consist of Toyota FJ Cruiser, Toyota Land Cruiser, Lexus GX, GMC Yukon Denali, and the 2007 Cadillac Escalade. Cool Dad cars consist of any sporty convertible, Pontiac Solstice, anything BMW that is not old lady. and of course, there is always the Chevy Avalanch, Ford F150 or GMC Sierra/Chevy Silverado that ...

I know that my 1961 has a separate wiring harness that plugs into the dash harness and comes out the heater box and goes to the idle speed up control and compressor.
