Aug 15, 2016 · The dummy projectile is solid bronze. At the base, around the hole (which is intended as something for the gunner to grip when removing the round from the breech, I find marked (Ord. Flaming bomb stamp), then "AMM.LOT NO-37-23144-1" the dummy cartridge case is headstamped 'DRILL CARTRIDGE M14 / 105MM HOWITZER M2/ AMM.

I have been unable to find a 105 MM howitzer. I can find a lot of these shell casings on the internet but not the gun it fires from....

Jan 1, 2022 · A 105 cannon cocker told me they were still finding WW2 dated cases when he was in a Guard unit in the 1990’s. Keep in mind, the 105 is not a fixed round, the projectile , bags of propellant, fuze and case are stored separate. Propellant, projectiles, and fuze have a shelf life, cases do not ( the primers do) but are refitted after so many years.

Dec 18, 2019 · The shell is an unfired 1968 HE M1, and is in decent condition. There’s no severe rust, but the base is probably the least attractive part, especially after someone before me took what looks like a flathead and hammer to it. The fuse is what looks to be a 1970 M565, and I have not been able to separate it from the shell.

Jul 7, 2018 · The M14B1 casing should be laquered steel, ( check with magnet), the " P" 105 is painted as such however all your 105mm projectiles will have stampings just above the driving band- they will have the " M" number designating Type of projectile, casing lot, caliber and date.
