Ruby Gates is the only woman this year to sail her boat by herself from Mexico to French Polynesia, a three thousand mile journey across the South Pacific. For thirty days she was alone at sea, managing her boat against the back drop of squalls, heavy seas and strange incidents including a dismasted sailboat drifting in her path.
