WACO, Texas (AP) — Sedona Prince had 16 points and 19 rebounds as 10th-ranked TCU won its first Big 12 regular-season title, holding on to beat No. 17 Baylor 51-48 on Sunday in the conference’s first winner-take-all on the final day in its 29-season history.

Those “Underfrogs” from TCU, a team that won only one conference game two seasons ago and last year needed open tryouts to fill roster spots after a series of injuries, are now outright women’s Big 12 champions.

The victory over the Bears cements one of the fastest turnarounds in college sports. Two years ago, TCU was just 1-17 in the Big 12, but now the No. 10 Horned Frogs will be the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Big 12 Tournament.

The Frogs (27-3, 15-2 Big 12) went 19-0 at home, where it could start the women’s NCAA Tournament. That included their first win over Baylor in 35 years, since the Texas teams were together in the long-defunct Southwest Conference.
