A life-threatening outbreak of long-lived and strong tornadoes is expected today in parts of the central and eastern US from a powerful, wide-reaching spring storm.

A day after parts of the Midwest and the South were bombarded with severe thunderstorms, hail and tornadoes, another round of storms — and life-threatening flash flooding — has been forecast for the region.

Supercell thunderstorms could produce multiple long-lived EF3 or stronger tornadoes today in the mid-Mississippi and lower Ohio valleys. Tornadoes, destructive straight-line winds and damaging hail will also impact a much larger area of the Midwest and South.
