Paige Bueckers scored a career-high 40 points, rescuing UConn from its first-half doldrums and single-handedly turning a tight game against Oklahoma into an 82-59 rout that sent the Huskies to the Elite Eight of the women’s NCAA Tournament.

OU’s four-point halftime lead evaporated over the course of its sloppy third-quarter performance. Connecticut outscored the Sooners by 17 in the third, and fueled by an NCAA Tournament program record 40 points and a second-half takeover from All-American Paige Bueckers, it was Geno Auriemma’s team that refused to surrender the advantage.

And the Huskies and Sooners are playing in a Sweet 16 game of March Madness right now.  Bueckers, who is coming off a 34-point performance in the second round, is aiming to get Geno Auriemma and the Huskies to their second consecutive Elite Eight and their 28th overall.
