Crowds have protested billionaire Elon Musk’s purge of the U.S. government under President Donald Trump outside Tesla dealerships throughout the U.S. and in some cities in Europe.
As it stands, Musk and Tesla are contending with recalls, protests, a 13% drop in sales and looming tariffs — so why is its stock rallying?
The plan for a day of mass demonstrations follows a series of violent incidents. Anti-Musk activists have been accused of throwing Molotov cocktails at Tesla facilities in Colorado, Nevada and Oregon and defacing Tesla vehicles there, and on Monday, authorities said they found multiple “ incendiary devices ” at a Tesla location in Texas.
Video of a shoving match, shared by Elon Musk, had more than 10 million views on X within hours of the incident.
