The studio announced during its presentation at CinemaCon on Wednesday that the live-action feature sequel is set for theatrical release on June 11, 2027. The first live-action How to Train Your Dragon, based on DreamWorks Animation ‘s hit 2010 animated movie of the same name, is coming out June 13.

Hold onto your horses! Or is that, hold onto your dragons! Because a live-action How to Train Your Dragon 2 movie is already on the way, complete with a release date, but… the first How to Train Your Dragon live-action film has not yet even been released in theaters.

Billboard Women in Music 2025 Universal’s live action adaptation of DreamWorks cartoon hit How to Train Your Dragon hasn’t opened yet (June 13), but the studio is so over the moon about it, they’ve greenlit a sequel.
