The remains found in Gilmer County, Georgia, in August 1986 have been identified as those of homicide victim David Clary, thanks to advanced DNA technology.

They finally identified a set of relatives who were able to identify the man as David Clary, who was in his late 20s when he was killed. He grew up in the area of Charlotte, North Carolina.
