Even the great Mahendra Singh Dhoni seems unable to arrest the spectacular side of Chennai Super Kings, who succumbed to their fifth consecutive defeat of the new Indian Premier League season on Friday.

Last season, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) qualified for the playoffs despite losing seven of their first eight matches. In fact, they finished fourth with 14 points from as many matches.

Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad will not play any more matches in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) after being ruled out of the tournament. MS Dhoni has replaced Ruturaj as captain till the end of IPL 2025.
