A fire damaged 40 decommissioned SEPTA buses, including 15 electric buses, at a Philadelphia storage yard on Thursday.

The fire, which sent a thick plume of black smoke into the sky visible across the city, began sometime before 6:15 a.m.

SEPTA General Manager Scott Sauer said all of the buses had been decommissioned and were in the process of being sold or scrapped.
