Mexican Foreign Minister Juan Ramon de la Fuente spoke with the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau on Wednesday in a call focused on strengthening bilateral relations, Mexico's foreign ministry said.
Russia and Ukraine also agreed to "develop measures to implement the agreement to ban strikes against energy facilities in Russia and Ukraine," the White House said.
The deal was limited, and it was not clear when or how it would start. The Kremlin also demanded some Western sanctions be lifted first.
Zelenskyy said Ukraine had agreed with U.S. negotiators “that a ceasefire for energy infrastructure can start today.” But, he warned, any strikes on Ukraine’s energy facilities by Moscow would draw “strong retaliation.
