A plane en route from Palm Coast to Vero Beach crashed into the ocean the evening of Sunday, June 1 in Indian River County. The pilot and two passengers were rescued by first responders after Indian River County Sheriff’s Office helicopters detected heat signatures in the water.

The sheriff’s helicopter quickly spotted three people in the water, and directed boats toward those in the water. A rescue swimmer went into the water from one of the boats. All three people from the plane were rescued safely, Abollo said.
