The Penske Racing driver was three laps away from his first victory at NASCAR’s oldest superspeedway, but after a bad late-race pit stop, Blaney finished fifth in the Goodyear 400. Denny Hamlin won his second straight race, taking the lead off the final pit stop for the green-white checkered finish.

While Denny Hamlin celebrated his Darlington victory Sunday, the feeling of those further down pit road was much different. “Just sucks,” said William Byron, who led the first 243 laps before finishing second.

Denny Hamlin emerged victorious in the Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway on Sunday. After a stretch of 19 consecutive races without a finish on top of the podium, Hamlin has now won two straight NASCAR Cup Series races after winning the Cook Out 400 at Martinsville Speedway on March 30.
