KILAUEA, Hawai'i (Island News) -- The 16th episode of the ongoing Halemaʻumaʻu eruption began on Monday evening at 10:57 p.m. with lava overflowing from the north vent. Before that, weak spattering started at around 5:20 p.m., which became continuous and grew to low fountains of lava about 15-30 feet high by 6:00 p.m.
The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory reported today that the “high fountain phase” of episode 16 of the ongoing Kilauea eruption begun at 10:24 a.m.
Lava began bubbling out of Hawaii’s most active volcano once again on Tuesday as Kilauea’s sporadic eruption resumed.
