Just in time for the morning work commute, all lanes of the new span of the Howard Frankland bridge appeared to be open to drivers by 6:30 a.m. Tuesday. Florida Department of Transportation officials opened the new bridge to southbound drivers one lane at a time overnight from Monday night into Tuesday morning.

After several years of construction, the new span of the Howard Frankland Bridge officially opened to traffic in time for the Tuesday morning commute.

The new southbound span of the Howard Frankland Bridge along Interstate 275 South will finally open for drivers after 10am Tuesday morning. It’s part of the most expensive bridge project in Florida history.
