Now, Roldan hopes residents across West Michigan can share a similar experience through the completion of the Hemlock Crossing Public Observatory. It's a project that began a decade ago with an idea.

The grand opening will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 8, at the new Hemlock Crossing Public Observatory, which is located at Ottawa County’s Hemlock Crossing Park at 8115 W. Olive Road in West Olive.

WEST OLIVE — Visitors to Hemlock Crossing will notice a striking new feature near its trailhead this weekend: the bright-white dome of an observatory that will soon be open for public stargazing.
