David Lynch, the beloved director behind films like Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, and Mulholland Drive - as well as the iconic television series Twin Peaks - has died at the age of 78.
The director's death was announced by his family on Thursday, less than a year after he had revealed an emphysema diagnosis.
The “Twin Peaks” TV show and films such as “Blue Velvet,” “Lost Highway” and “Mulholland Drive” melded elements of horror, film noir, the whodunit and classical European surrealism.
