Director Shawn Levy and Ryan Gosling took the stage today in Tokyo, Japan for Star Wars Celebration to promote 'Star Wars: Starfighter'.

The film is a stand-alone movie that will be unconnected to the so-called Skywalker Saga, the stories centered on well-established and beloved characters Luke Skywalker and his father, Anakin. The events of Starfighter take place approximately five years after the events of 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

"There are many rumors, some true, some not. ... This is not a prequel, this is not a sequel. It's a new adventure," Levy said. "It was a great process. This is no longer a Star Wars movie in development.
