President Donald Trump has deployed 4,000 National Guardsmen and 700 Marines to LA. But California Gov. Gavin Newsom and California Attorney General Rob Bonta are suing the Trump administration, saying they unlawfully "trampled over" California’s sovereignty when they federalized the California National Guard.
Power lines that are not being placed underground are being hardened with coated wire, called covered conductor, which further reduces the risk of wildfire ignitions when trees and debris contact the line. Across SCE’s service area, more than 6,500 miles of power lines have already been upgraded with this coated wire.
President Trump defended sending federal troops to Los Angeles amid anti-ICE protests, claiming the city would be “burning to the ground” without intervention. He blasted Governor Gavin Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass for mishandling both protests and wildfire recovery.
