The first flight of Isar Aerospace's Spectrum rocket didn't last long on Sunday. The booster's nine engines switched off as the rocket cartwheeled upside-down and fell a short distance from its Arctic launch pad in Norway, punctuating the abbreviated test flight with a spectacular fiery crash into the sea.
Isar Aerospace Plans Second Spectrum Launch Attempt on Saturday
German rocketry startup Isar Aerospace made its first launch attempt of the Spectrum rocket on March 24 after being given the go-ahead the week before. While that had to be scrapped, it's now hoped that the stars will align during the short three-hour window this Saturday to allow for the first launch to take place unimpeded.
