U.S. Representative Jasmine Crockett, a Democrat from Texas, made remarks during a House Judiciary Subcommittee hearing on Wednesday that have ignited a debate about diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

Crockett is facing criticism for referring to Abbott, who uses a wheelchair, as "Gov. Hot Wheels" while speaking at a banquet in Los Angeles.

"And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot ass mess," Crockett said about Abbott during the 2025 Human Rights Campaign Los Angeles Dinner.
