Light snow for many this Christmas Eve morning. As it winds down by midday, it looks like a quiet weather pattern takes over for Christmas Day and beyond, as temperatures moderate some by late week.

8 to 16 inches of snow is possible in the Wasatch Mountains north of I-80, as well as Western Uinta, central and southern mountains. Areas closer to Brian Head could also receive closer to 2-3 feet.

But the opposite pattern, called a La Niña, will likely develop this season. That doesn’t mean less snow; however, it means more variability.
