Ione and David lived a simple life in their little home on 700 West that they called their castle and raised their five boys. In her younger years she worked at the turkey plant and Cedar Laundry.

Ione was born to John Severis and Florence Lucille Ginty Rogero on December 1, 1935, in St. Augustine Florida. The third girl of four children. She grew up on a gladiola farm outside of St. Augustine.
