At least 45 Palestinians were killed in the Gaza Strip while waiting for U.N. and commercial trucks to enter the territory with desperately needed food, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry and a local hospital.

Palestinian health officials and witnesses say Israeli forces fired toward crowds making their way to a food distribution point run by an Israeli and U.S.-supported group in the Gaza Strip

The Israel Defense Forces said a crowd gathered near an aid truck “in proximity to IDF troops” and that it “regrets any harm to uninvolved individuals.”
