Iowa's wrestling team has once again proven its prowess on the national stage by extending its impressive streak of consecutive years with an NCAA finalist to 35 at the 2025 NCAA Wrestling Championships.

Most important was Buchanan securing a national title at 197 pounds. In his lone season as a Hawkeye, he became the first NCAA champion at 197 pounds for Iowa (the weight class was created in 1999). He is the 56th Iowa wrestler to win a national title − those 56 individuals have combined for 86 NCAA titles.
