DOGE leader Elon Musk said Thursday that slashing a trillion in federal spending is “quite achievable” without impacting the core services provided to Americans.

Elon Musk and members of DOGE claimed their work would put more money in the hands of Social Security recipients. During an exclusive interview with "Special Report with Bret Baier," DOGE and Musk claimed rampant fraud in the SSA will render America insolvent.

The Social Security Administration is one of multiple government agencies targeted by the Department of Government Efficiency's cost-cutting efforts.

Following threats of potential legal blowback, however, he said that the recipients of the $1 million reward would instead be chosen on the basis of their ability to be effective spokespeople for a petition against “activist judges.” His PAC has also offered $100 to anyone who signs the petition.

Elon Musk said Thursday that the U.S. DOGE Service he is overseeing aims to cut $1 trillion in federal spending per year - an amount he said won’t harm services even though it represents about half of what the government spends outside of Social Security, health care and interest on the debt.

According to Reuters, Musk made the comments Thursday and noted he would finish most of the work on cutting $1 trillion in spending, as soon as 64 days. Musk appeared confident that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) could find the savings while speaking to Fox News’ “Special Report with Bret Baier.”
