The trial of former Spanish football federation chief Luis Rubiales over his unwanted kiss of female soccer player Jennifer Hermoso has started in Madrid.

World Cup winner Jenni Hermoso has confronted Spain’s former football federation boss Luis Rubiales in court, saying she did not agree to the kiss that has led to his trial on assault and coercion charges.

Luis Rubiales kissed Jenni Hermoso on the lips as players collected their medals after the final of the Women's World Cup in Australia between England and Spain in August 2023. Hermoso told the court the kiss "tainted one of the happiest days of my life".
