A suspected gangland killer described as France's "public enemy number one", who was arrested in Bucharest over the weekend after months of being on the run, has left Romania for France, Romanian airport authorities told AFP on Tuesday.

An official in Romania says that the notorious French fugitive who staged a deadly escape that killed two guards last year is being extradited to France from Romania.

Since his deadly escape from a prison van last year, Mohamed Amra, known as 'The Fly,' had disappeared. The manhunt, involving around 100 investigators, came to an end in Bucharest on Saturday.
