Austin woke up to sleet and snow accumulations ranging from half an inch to 2 inches on Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Austin got around half an inch of snow overnight. The National Weather Service forecasts sunny conditions later in the day. The daytime high is expected to hit 38 degrees, but the "feels like" temperature could be roughly 10 degrees lower due to wind chill.

Austin's forecast: mostly sunny with highs of 40°F, warming to near 60°F by Friday, and a chance of showers over the weekend.

The Austin area is expected to get 1-2 inches of a wintry mix of snow and sleet on Monday and Tuesday. Austin ISD and other local school districts have announced closures for Tuesday.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for Central and South Texas, from Monday evening through Tuesday afternoon.
