Visitors enter and leave through the Rotunda of Honor. The names of Medal of Honor recipients shine under a perpetual light.

The building makes a dramatic impression, standing out from its larger and less distinguished stadium neighbors thanks to its defining gesture, a massive metal-clad block (200 feet square) that hovers some 40 feet above ground, intended as a metaphor for the psychological weight borne by Medal of Honor recipients.

Following the ribbon cutting by George and Laura Bush with help from 32 national heroes, a "Mission to Inspire Spectacular" lit up the sky over the National Medal of Honor Museum with fireworks and drones,
