Kagiso Rabada stars as MI Cape Town beat two-time champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape to win their first SA20 title.

After two seasons as basement dwellers, MI Cape Town crushed the two-time defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape by 76 runs in the SA20 final.

Kagiso Rabada's exceptional bowling performance helped MI Cape Town secure their first SA20 trophy at the Wanderers Stadium, showcasing his dominance with figures of 4/25.

After wooden spoons in the first two editions, MI Cape Town (MICT) bounced back to win the SA20 2025 as they demolished two-time defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape (SEC) in the final on Saturday at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.

MI Cape Town were in dominant mood in the final at the Wanderers, winning by a big margin for their first title.

MI Cape Town turned their performance around 180 degrees in the SA20 in 2025 after finishing at the bottom in the first two editions as they were the best team in the competition this time, topped the table and deservedly won the title.

MICT beat SEC by 76 runs and they have clinched their maiden title in the tournament. Rabada finishes with four scalps to his name and MICT have bowled out the Sunrisers for a paltry 105. What a thrashing in the final. They have shown that they were the best team of the competition throughout.

Rabada’s performance was fitting of the grand occasion with the fast bowler claiming 4-25 to dismiss the Sunrisers Eastern Cape for just 105 in response to MI Cape Town’s 181/8 - the second-highest score in a SA20 final.
