Academy Award-nominated Japanese director Mamoru Hosoda's latest film, "Scarlet," has landed a Dec. 12 release date from Sony Pictures.

Sony is going with their co-production of Mamoru Hosoda’s Scarlet on Dec. 12 this year, joining 20th Century Studios’ James L. Brooks movie Ella McKay and Focus Features’ Chloe Zhao movie Hamnet. Scarlet is described as the story of a brave princess who transcends time and space.
