Jens-Frederik Nielsen, Greenland's prime minister, said in a Facebook post on Sunday that the United States will not be able to annex the resource-rich island in the Atlantic.

“President Trump says that the United States ‘will get Greenland.’ Let me be clear: The United States will not get it. We do not belong to anyone else. We decide our own future,” Jens-Frederik Nielsen said in a Facebook post.

Jens-Frederik Nielsen, prime minister of Greenland, rejected U.S. President Donald Trump's prediction that the U.S. will eventually control the territory. Trump has said controlling Greenland is of strategic importance to the U.S. for national security and trade.
