A Mt. Washington man whose cousin was killed when she was thrown from his car in a drunk-driving crash pleaded guilty Wednesday in her death. Russell Page, 29, will spend 11 1/2 to 23 months in jail.
He was lucky — Mount Washington is the highest peak in the Northeast and prone to mishaps. Last year, a 20-year-old skier plunged 600 feet to her death after falling off Tuckerman Ravine.
The incident highlights the extreme danger of deep snow days, as tree well accidents resulting in death occur at a rate of about four to five times per year.
