As Ghibli-style images are going viral, thanks to OpenAI's latest update, an old Hayao Miyazaki clip criticising machine-generated art resurfaced. In the clip, he called such art "creepy stuff" which is "an insult to life".

Miyazaki Hayao, an anime director and Studio Ghibli co-founder, is known for classics like Nausicaä and Spirited Away.

Much like their visual aesthetic, Studio Ghibli’s stories blend the mundane with the fantastical. They are also deeply political, and contain complex characters who blur the binary between good and evil.
