All eyes are on Washington, D.C. after a military black hawk helicopter carrying three soldiers collided with a passenger plane carrying 64 people on Jan. 29. It is the worst air disaster in nearly two decades and among the many lives lost were young members on board were Team USA’s figure skating program.

The U.S. skating community was in mourning on Thursday after learning several skaters were on an American Airlines regional passenger plane that crashed near Reagan Washington National Airport.

Figure skaters and coaches returning from the U.S. national championships were aboard the American Airlines flight that collided with a Black Hawk helicopter Wednesday.
