Ali Larijani, a top adviser to Iran's supreme leader, says Iran will have 'no choice' but to get nuclear weapon if attacked.

Iranian state media is reporting that Iran has placed all of its missiles on launchers in response to a potential U.S. attack.

Iran would have no alternative but to acquire a nuclear weapon if attacked by the United States or its allies, an adviser to the country's supreme leader warned on Monday, following a threat by Donald Trump.

D UBAI, United Arab Emirates — Iran has responded to a letter sent by U.S. President Donald Trump to its supreme leader in an attempt to jump-start talks over Tehran's rapidly advancing nuclear program, rejecting the option of direct talks.

"In this response, although direct negotiations between the two parties are rejected, it has been stated that the path for indirect negotiations is open," Iran said.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards seized on Monday two foreign tankers carrying over three million liters (792,516 U.S. gallons) of smuggled diesel fuel, Iranian state media reported.

But the official IC denialism goes all the way back to the George W. Bush administration, which in 2007 declassified its National Intelligence Assessment on Iran to reveal that its spooks were not sure Iran (despite all appearances) was actually trying to build a nuclear weapon.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Monday the U.S. would receive a strong blow if it acts on Trump's threat to bomb unless Tehran reaches a new nuclear deal.
