Israel Defense Forces are conducting a series of "extensive strikes" throughout the Gaza Strip overnight on Tuesday local time, officials said in a statement.

Israel’s military said it was conducting extensive strikes on Hamas targets and medics reported dozens of deaths, in the biggest attacks since the ceasefire.

Gaza’s ministry of health said at least 44 people were killed in the new wave of airstrikes across the Gaza Strip early Tuesday. Israel said it was striking Hamas targets in its heaviest assault in the territory since a ceasefire took effect in January.
