David Heriot, 39, accused of stabbing another man in the woods behind East High Street, told East Hampton police the stabbing was self-defense, a report says.

Police said the victim identified his assailant as 39-year-old David Heriot, who is known to him and lives about a mile and a half away on West Avenue.

David Heriot was arrested in connection with a stabbing that happened in East Hampton on April 1, 2024, ... Heriot was found in the wooded area with the help of a state police K9.

The victim then told police that the person who stabbed him was 39-year-old David Heriot and that they knew each other. Police searched the wooded area and were able to locate Heriot and arrest him.
