After Derek Carr's sudden retirement, the New Orleans Saints are left with three quarterbacks on their active roster. And according to new head coach Kellen Moore, they will each get a chance to compete for the starting role in Carr's absence.

Dennis Allen was head coach of the Raiders when Oakland drafted Carr. Allen was also the head coach of the Saints when they signed Carr to a multi-year contract in 2023. He was (finally) fired by New Orleans seven games into last season. This offseason, Allen was hired to be the defensive coordinator of the Chicago Bears.

The New Orleans Saints entered the 2025 NFL offseason with several questions to answer, starting with Derek Carr's future with the franchise. The veteran quarterback was reluctant to rework his four-year, $150 million contract (per Spotrac ).
