The girders – each about 61 feet long, and weighing between 22,500 and 27,300 pounds – arrived by three semi-trailer trucks around 5 p.m. Sunday from Stupp Bridge in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Girders are massive steel beams that support the structure of the bridge, according to department of transportation spokesperson Kathleen Fuller.
