The Democratic controlled cities of Salt Lake City and Boise adopted new city flags this week that show support for LGBTQ+ people in defiance of new laws passed by their states' Republican-controlled Legislatures that banned the traditional rainbow pride flags at schools and government buildings.

The cities approved several new flags after Utah and Idaho passed laws barring unofficial flags from being displayed on government property.
