Ariana Grande, who earned three Grammy nominations this year for her seventh album Eternal Sunshine, skipped the Grammys for the fifth time.

Although Ariana Grande is in the running for three Grammy awards—including Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, and Best Dance Pop Recording—she decided to skip the red carpet this evening.

Grande notably opted not to attend the 2019 awards show — the same year that she won her first Grammy — after producers reportedly refused to allow her to sing “7 Rings.” However, she returned in 2020 to perform a medley of her hits, including “7 Rings,” “Imagine” and “Thank U, Next.” This marked her most recent Grammys appearance.

The nominations for the 97th Academy Awards (a.k.a. the Oscars) were revealed this morning, and Ariana Grande earned a nod thanks to Wicked. As for how this honor stacks up to getting a Grammy nod, Grande would prefer not to say.
