Russia is claiming it has captured another village in its relentless offensive in eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk region and as it closes in on the critical Ukrainian logistics hub of Pokrovsk after almost three years of war.

Russia said on Saturday it had captured a village flanking the eastern flashpoint city of Toretsk in Ukraine, while Kyiv said eight people had died in Russian attacks overnight.

Russia fired dozens of missiles and drones at Ukraine killing 12 people, Kyiv said Saturday, as Moscow claimed its forces were pressing in on the key city of Toretsk. In total, Moscow fired 42 missiles and 123 drones including decoys in the overnight barrage,
